Giving has always been part of The Coffee Chemist.
Where the Charitable Cup Began
When we began as a coffee truck, we created The Charitable Cup as a simple way to turn everyday purchases into meaningful support for the causes our customers cared about.
Each month, customers nominated organizations and community causes that mattered to them. A cause was selected, and during the following month, 10% of every Charitable Cup sold was donated to that organization.
Over the years, our customers helped us support causes ranging from domestic violence services to animal rescue and other community organizations.
We were a modest food truck, but those cups added up. Month after month, the Charitable Cup typically raised $50 to $100 for the selected cause.
Small acts, shared by a community, can make a real difference.
Our Next Chapter
The Charitable Cup Is Coming Back
The Coffee Chemist has changed since our food-truck days, but the spirit behind the Charitable Cup has not.
As we rebuild The Coffee Chemist and grow our online shop, we are also rebuilding our community giving program. Our goal is to create a new version of the Charitable Cup that allows purchases from The Coffee Chemist to once again help support organizations and causes chosen with our community.
We aren't collecting Charitable Cup contributions through current purchases yet. We want to rebuild the program thoughtfully, transparently, and in a way that can grow alongside the business.
When the Charitable Cup returns, we'll clearly share:
- The organization or cause being supported
- Which purchases participate in the program
- The portion of eligible purchases being donated
- The giving period
- The impact our community helped create
Help Us Fill the Charitable Cup
One of our favorite parts of the original Charitable Cup was that our customers helped choose where the support went.
We plan to bring that tradition back.
As the program relaunches, we'll invite our community to nominate nonprofit organizations, local programs, rescue organizations, community initiatives, and other causes doing meaningful work.
Because giving shouldn't only reflect what matters to us. It should reflect what matters to the community around us.
More Than a Donation
Supporting a cause can mean more than writing a check.
As The Coffee Chemist grows, we also hope to use our platform to introduce our customers to organizations doing important work, share their stories, promote their efforts, and help more people discover ways to get involved.
Coffee has always had a way of bringing people together. We believe it can help us do some good together, too.
